We can now confirm the arrangements for Friday 29th April 2005.
The cremation will take place at 1.30pm at the West London Crematorium, Harrow Road, Kensal Green, London W10 4RA. The nearest tube is Kensal Green. This will be a simple, secular ceremony lasting less than 30 minutes. No flowers please: if you would like to do something in John's memory a donation to Oxfam, his favoured charity, would be appropriate. It will be possible to give money or a cheque to the funeral directors on the day.
Afterwards, from 3.00pm, we will be hosting a wake, or celebration of John's life, in the upstairs room of The French House, 49 Dean Street, London W1D 5BE. There will be a programme of tributes from about 4.00pm.
Anyone who knew John is welcome to attend either event. It would greatly assist our planning if you could let one of us know if you are intending to come. If you would like to speak at The French House, please let us know in advance so we can plan a running order. If you cannot attend but would like one of us to read on your behalf, please feel free to send something.
